Dalit entrepreneurship research study: Insight on 25% of the Indian population
This study, led by Indian Member of Parliament Dr Udit Raj, will provide a better understanding of the constraints Dalits face in developing enterprises. It will survey 12,000 Dalit entrepreneurs in 14 states, collecting data from individual Dalit entrepreneurs, suppliers, wholesale markets, retail outlets, bankers, and informal loan providers. The study will identify priority needs for this socially-marginalized group, identify training needs, and assess the various government schemes for Dalits.
This project aims to help policymakers develop a progressive policy for Dalits, encouraging access to greater entrepreneurial power. The report will be shared with policymakers, governments, businesses, relevant ministries, international agencies, and civil society organizations.
