Early career fellowships for gender equality in science (2022-2026)

This cutting-edge fellowship program will support institutional transformation to advance gender equality in science. The program will benefit up to 52 institutions and up to 185 women scientists (125 in doctoral programs and 60 in their early careers), as well as up to 7,200 students/scientists associated with these research fellowships in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in up to 24 low- and middle-income countries.

IDRC’s support will provide early-career women scientists with the opportunity and skills to become leaders in STEM fields, head laboratories and research teams, use novel approaches to applied research, collaborate with industry and influence policy, advance in their careers, engage in gender-equality initiatives, and serve as role models for the next generation of female scientists. IDRC will also support a multi-pronged approach to promote institutional change for gender equality in science, which encompasses strengthening of networks, mentoring, and upgrading of research and training infrastructure.
