TTI Phase 2 Institutional Support: Centre for Budget and Governance Accountability
This funding will enhance the Centre for Budget and Governance Accountability's (CBGA) role as a credible public policy institution in India by strengthening its ability to provide high-quality, influential, and policy-relevant research. About the Centre for Budget and Governance Accountability CBGA is an independent organization that works to improve the reliability of public policies in India. Its primary mission is to promote transparent, accountable, and participatory governance, as well as a people-centered perspective in preparing and implementing budgets. CBGA receives its funding from the Think Tank Initiative (TTI). Quality research, policy influence TTI is a multi-funder program dedicated to strengthening independent policy research institutions, or think tanks, in developing countries. The program aims to enhance their ability to provide sound research that informs and influences policy. This second TTI phase (2014?2019) will fund 43 institutions, helping them consolidate their role as credible development actors in their countries, and in some cases, regionally and internationally. For CBGA, this project will help enhance its research quality, organizational performance, and policy engagement. Stronger institution, stronger voice Through this support over the next 4.5 years, CBGA is expected to -firmly establish itself as a leading think tank that provides research and evidence on public policy and governance issues -become sustainable through a diversified funding portfolio -contribute significantly to policy discussions in India on governance, social sectors, agriculture and food security, vulnerability, fiscal decentralization, and taxation.
