IDRC is sponsoring the fourth annual World Veterinary Vaccine Congress in Lisbon, Portugal, from October 29-31. Experts from the veterinary vaccine value chain will gather to discuss the theme of “Science, New Technology, and Strategy for the Veterinary Vaccine Sector”.
The conference will focus on the progress made in veterinary vaccine research and development and will identify where challenges arise in vaccine development across a wide variety of diseases, vaccine types, and animal species. IDRC Senior Program Specialist Victor Mbao will present the Centre’s work on the Livestock Vaccine Innovation Fund (LVIF) on the afternoon of October 30.
LVIF is a five-and-a-half year, CA$57-million partnership between the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Global Affairs Canada, and IDRC. LVIF focuses on the animal diseases that pose the greatest risk to poor livestock keepers in sub-Saharan Africa and South and Southeast Asia, targeting transboundary diseases to achieve lasting regional impact.
